  35. INSTALLATION
  36. ------------
  37. To install InvesTrax, simply double-click on the "Setup.Exe" program,
  38. and follow the prompts!
  39.  
  40. All files will be copied to folder you select (default C:\INVTRAX)
  41. and NO files will be copied into your Windows or Windows/System
  42. directories.

  46. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to demonstrate the
  47. capabilities of InvesTrax. This package includes the latest version
  48. of our demonstration disk.
  49.  
  50. There are three ways to view your mutual fund transactions:
  51. As list of all mutual fund transactions, a graphical view where
  52. the share price or fund value is plotted verses transaction date,
  53. and calculated fund statistics.
  54.  
  55. The different views can be selected using the mouse to click on
  56. the appropriate "tab" located at the bottom of the main window.
  57.  
  58. Transaction List:
  59.  
  60. This view displays all the mutual fund transactions you have
  61. entered. To Add a new transaction, select Add Transaction...
  62. listed under the Edit menu. Editing a transaction is as easy as
  63. double clicking on the transaction to be edited from the
  64. transaction list.
  65.  
  66. Transactions come in several flavors:
  67.  
  68. Buy: Select this type if you invested money into a mutual fund
  69. (thereby purchasing shares). Fill in the dollar amount invested
  70. and the current share price. InvesTrax will automatically
  71. calculate the number of share purchased. All of this information
  72. can be found on the statements you receive from the mutual fund
  73. company.
  74.  
  75. Sell: Select this type if you withdraw some money from your
  76. mutual fund (thereby sell shares). Fill in the dollar amount
  77. withdrawn, and the share price at the date of withdraw. Both of
  78. these will be listed on the statements you receive from the
  79. mutual fund company.
  80.  
  81. Distributions (Dividends, Short Term Capital Gains, Long Term
  82. Capital Gains): There are three categories in which distributions
  83. can be classified. All represent money that a fund "pays" the
  84. fund holder (you) for the privilege of using your invested
  85. money to make more money. You can think of it as being similar
  86. to interest that a bank would pay on your passbook savings,
  87. although this is not  technically correct. Again your statement
  88. of account will list these as well.
  89.  
  90. Reinvested Distributions: When a fund "pays" a dividend, or short
  91. term capital gain or any distribution, you can direct the money
  92. to be sent directly to you, or reinvested back into the fund. If
  93. you do not receive checks regularly then your distributions are
  94. probably being reinvested back into the fund. In any case when
  95. entering a distribution, check the reinvested box appropriately.
  96. The default is that all distributions are reinvested.

  98. Graphing:
  99.  
  100. Graphing all your transactions is as easy as clicking on the
  101. tab marked Graph. You can select between a graph of share price
  102. verses transaction date, or fund value verses transaction date
  103. from the Graph menu.
  104.  
  105. The points on the line indicate that a transaction took place
  106. at that time. A blue indicates a Buy occurred, red indicates a
  107. Sell, and Green indicates that the fun paid a distribution that
  108. was reinvested. Double clicking on any point brings up more
  109. detail about that transaction.

  111. Statistics:
  112.  
  113. Every time you switch to the statistics view, a number of
  114. calculations take place. First, all the buys, sells and
  115. distributions are totaled and tabulated for a good overview of
  116. the kind of activity that has taken place in the fund. Secondly,
  117. if you are dollar cost averaging mutual fund investments,
  118. then the dollar cost average figures of average share price
  119. and average purchase price will be of interest.

  121. DEMONSTRATION VERSION LIMITATIONS
  122. ---------------------------------
  123. The demonstration version of InvesTrax is fully functional with
  124. the exception of the save option. You can enter, load, modify, graph,
  125. calculate effective interest rates, etc... but you cannot save the
  126. fund files you have created.

  128. InvesTrax is sold for at a very reasonable price. Full ordering
